Zofran or Ondansetron Hydrochloride is a medication that is used to reduce or prevent nausea and vomiting after cancer treatments. The FDA has never tested or approved the use of Zofran for women while pregnant to combat morning sickness. Two Zofran lawsuits have already been filed and there are reports a 3rd Zofran lawsuit is being filed where a death may have occurred. There have been reports in both the United States and Canada of infants being born with birth defects including Cleft palate, Cleft lip and Congenital heart defects. Zofran is very popular medication for women who face serious morning sickness while pregnant. In 2012, GlaxoSmithKline was sued and ultimately plead guilty to criminal fraud charges and paid a fine between $2 and $3 billion dollars regarding Zofran. Some plaintiff's argue that GlaxoSmithKline's sales representatives providing kick backs to doctors to prescribe Zofran despite not knowing the risks associated with Zofran.
